How to Experience Women’s Hanfu Culture in China

Women’s Hanfu has become a social movement. Across China, women gather for Hanfu meetups, tea ceremonies, and cultural festivals. These cities offer the richest experiences.

Chengdu – Hanfu Social Scene

Why here: Chengdu has China’s most active women’s Hanfu community. Weekend Hanfu meetups at People’s Park, tea-house gatherings, and Hanfu-themed cafe afternoons are regular social life. The Chengdu Hanfu Association organizes monthly events open to visitors. “Hanfu Street” near Chunxi Road has a dozen women’s Hanfu shops.

Transportation: Fly into Chengdu Shuangliu. Metro Line 2/3 to Chunxi Road. Taxis from 8 RMB.

Transportation: Fly into Hangzhou Xiaoshan or train from Shanghai (1 hour). Metro Line 1 to Longxiangqiao. Lake best explored on foot or rental bicycle (1-2 RMB/30 min).

Where to stay: West Lake scenic hotels (500-2,000 RMB/night). Longxiangqiao / Hubin area (400-900 RMB/night). Tea plantation guesthouse in Longjing Village (400-800 RMB/night) for a unique stay.
