Hanfu Experience in China: City-by-City Guide
The best way to experience Hanfu is to wear it where it belongs — in China, in front of a thousand-year-old wall or a misty lake. This guide covers six cities, what a rental actually costs, the best spots to shoot, and how to get from "want to" to "wearing it."
Pick Your City
Six cities, six different Hanfu moods. Rentals run roughly 60–350 RMB per day everywhere listed.

Before You Go
- Book ahead in high season — spring and autumn weekends sell out, especially in Xi'an and Beijing.
- Bring your passport — most shops require it as ID for the rental deposit.
- Know the collar rule — right over left. See How to Wear Hanfu for the full sequence.
- Check the return window — most rentals are 24 hours; returning late usually costs a half-day fee.
- Language — major-city shops have English-speaking staff or translation apps. Outside peaks, a phrase like "租汉服" (rent Hanfu) on your phone helps.
